Project Description
CMIA were appointed to design and detail seven houses in this gated development of characterful and spacious detached homes around an impressive central courtyard. Designed to reflect local farmsteads. surrounded by countryside these superb homes are within walking distance of Great Horwood.
About the Project
The design principles have been approached in a farmstead and vernacular style, with walls dominating openings with ideally minimal fenestration to the public faces. Each home was built with a double garage which are subservient to the main building with a lower ridge line to assist with articulation in the architectural elevation. The principle of the development was to create a discreet residential complex that utilise the existing highway, Spring Lane, with pedestrian links to the local playground which I adjacent to the north boundary of the site.

Each of the houses at Horwood Mill were designed to offer the purchaser the very best of modern living spaces with specifications and finishes set to an exceptional standard with external elevations offering the same luxury with coursed stone, brick and weather boarding beneath tiled roofs.
